Imagine Your Story Summer Reading Club!

This Summer, families can go online  to join our reading club and win prizes for reading and early literacy activities, just like in the past.

 

‘Imagine Your Story’ Children’s Summer Reading Club will begin on June 15th for all children, from babies to children entering 5th Grade, and it will end on August 8th.

Page Turner Adventures

This Summer we’ll also offer virtual programs every weekday from Page Turner Adventures! Families can watch performers’ shows, hear authors speak, do crafts, games, book clubs and lots more, beginning June 15th. You can watch anytime that's convenient for you once programs are posted on Facebook!  Registration is open now!

Here are the activities for each day, with a different theme each week within our summer theme of "Imagine Your Story!"

 

Monday: SHOW DAY – Every Monday, we’ll present a different Virtual Comedy Story Theater show.

Tuesday: PROJECT DAY – We’ll do crafts, games, recipes, games, science experiments, and activities. We'll post materials for you to gather at home prior to the program.

Wednesday: AUTHOR & ILLUSTRATOR DAY –  Get ready for fun interviews and activities with some of the most amazing authors and illustrators in the business. In addition to the interview, we’ll also have read-alongs, activities, trivia games, and book giveaways.  

Thursday: Tween DAY – You’ll get crafts and activities for upper elementary and middle school kids. 
Friday: SPECIAL GUEST DAY: Each week, you’ll get a bonus show with another amazing performer! These include Ringling Clowns, world-renowned magicians, Grammy Winning Singers, ventriloquists, puppeteers, and pirates. We’ll also “visit” exciting places like zoos, science museums, and the International Clown Hall of Fame.

MORE FAMILY PROGRAMS

FAMILY PROGRAMS with MS. DANIELLE

BINGO:  Wednesdays at 2PM on 6/3, 6/17, 7/1, 7/15, 7/29, 8/12, and 8/26 for ages 5 and up.

Everyone who registers will receive an email with a link to the bingo card and the meeting on the day of the program. 

 


Outdoor Scavenger Hunt:  Wednesdays at 2PM on 6/10, 7/8, and 8/5 for ages 5 and up.

Parents will receive a meeting code with an invitation to join the hunt through Zoom on the day of the program.  At 2PM join the meeting and Ms. Danielle will give you clues and a time limit to see how many things you can find in your yard!

 


What's That Sound? Game: Wednesday June 24 at 2PM for ages 5 and up.

Parents will receive a meeting code with an invitation to join the game through Zoom on the day of the program.  At 2PM join the meeting and Ms. Danielle will give you play a sound and you will have to guess what it is!

 


Storyteller Guessing Game:  Wednesday July 22 at 2PM for ages 5 and up.

Parents will receive a meeting code with an invitation to join the game through Zoom on the day of the program.  At 2PM join the meeting and Ms. Danielle will start a story and then everyone will have a chance to add to the story.  Let's see what silly stories we can create!

 

Mindful Storytime:  Thursday July 23 at 2PM for ages 4-7 years.

Parents will receive a meeting code with an invitation to join the program through Zoom on the day of the program. Join Ms. Danielle virtually for fun movement and breathing techniques along with calming music. Children should wear comfortable clothes. 

 


Draw It Game:  Wednesday August 19 at 2PM for ages 5 and up.

Parents will receive a meeting code with an invitation to join the game through Zoom on the day of the program.  At 2PM join the meeting and Ms. Danielle will give everyone a chance to draw an animal while the other participants try and guess what it is!

LEGO™Challenge!

Mondays from June 22 - Aug. 10 for Ages 5 and up.  Please email results to vclkids@rcls.org.

 

Are you looking for something fun to do?  Are you up for a LEGO™  challenge?  Register for this program and receive a new challenge by email every Monday.  Create at your own pace and share your results with us by Friday of that same week.

Water Cycle in a Bag

Friday, July 17 at 2pm for children going into Pre-K through 5th Grade.

Join educators from SUEZ Water Company through Zoom to learn about water cycles!  Why does it rain? How do clouds form? Children will create a “Water Cycle in a Bag” to emulate the water cycle. Watch what happens when the bag is hung on a sunny window!  A Zoom meeting invitation will be sent to all participants the morning of the program.

Fun with Bubbles!

Tuesday, July 21 at 2pm for children going into Pre-K through 4th Grade.

 Join educators virtually from SUEZ Water Company to learn about bubbles.  Why do bubbles pop? Children will learn the science behind bubbles. Participants will receive a Zoom Meeting invite the morning of the program.

Census Day: Everyone Counts, Children and Babies Too!

This is a reminder that there is still time to go online to MY2020CENSUS.GOV to complete the 2020 Census. Did you know that distribution of over $675 Billion in federal funds toward schools, roads, and other public services is based on Census data over the next 10 years, and that Census results are used to determine how many seats New York gets in the U.S. House of Representatives? It’s mandatory and essential – everyone counts!

Preschool Playtime!

Tuesdays at 10:30 AM from July 7 - Aug. 4 for ages 2-5 years.

Join us live weekly for fun Zoom games like: mini scavenger hunts, guessing games, show and tell, fingerplays, songs, and more! A Zoom invitation will be emailed to you on the Monday before each event. 

Welcome to Kindergarten!

Aug. 11 or 14 at 2 pm (choose one) for ages 4-5 years.

Parents will receive a meeting code with an invitation to join the program through Zoom on the day of the program.  At 2PM, join the meeting and Ms. Meredith will present songs, books and other fun interactive activities to review some good things to know as you prepare for Kindergarten.

Reading Adventures

For Children going into Grades 1-3

Mondays 6/22, 7/6, 7/20, and 8/3 at 2PM

Join Ms. Danielle for a virtual twist on Monday Book Club!  Parents will receive a meeting code with an invitation to join the book club through Zoom on the day of the program.  At 2PM, join the meeting and Ms. Danielle will read a picture book, then we will talk about it and draw pictures from the book!  Please make sure you have paper and a pencil or crayons to draw with.

Reading Adventures

For Children going into Grades 4-6

Mondays 6/29, 7/13 and 8/10 at 2PM

Join Ms. Danielle for a virtual twist on Monday Book Club!  Parents will receive a meeting code with an invitation to join the book club through Zoom on the day of the program.  At 2PM, join the meeting and Ms. Danielle will let you know what books she has been reading and you will share with the group what you are reading.  Get great book recommendations all summer long!
