1000 Books Before Kindergarten
This program promotes reading to newborns, infants, toddlers, and children up to Kindergarten. The goal is to have read 1000 books before your child starts Kindergarten. Sign up in the Children’s Room to get more information, and your first reading record, or print the record and instructions from our website:

Take and Make Crafts
Every Monday the Children's Room will have a new craft ready for pickup for children to do at home on their own anytime! Stop by the back door to the Children's Room to pick up, and send a picture of your completed craft to vclkids@rcls.org for a prize and to have it posted on our social media!
No registration.
Crafts available Monday through Saturday while supplies last.


The Amazing Chase
February 6-7
Back by popular demand - join our Family Scavenger Hunt for the weekend! This is an interactive, community game that’s fun for all ages! Form a team with family members, choose a team name, then complete Missions (tasks) to earn points and win prizes. The Missions can be done at home or outside in Valley Cottage and nearby. Each family will post pictures or videos of your completed Missions on our private ‘The Amazing Chase’ Facebook page to earn points.
This event will take place between 9AM Saturday and 5PM on Sunday, and Missions can be completed any time within that period.
Virtual Mindful Storytime
Tuesday, March 2 at 5pm
Ages 4-7 years
Join Ms. Danielle for a Virtual Mindful Storytime. We will read stories, learn different breathing techniques, and poses. A Zoom meeting link will be sent the morning of the program.

Join Ms. Meredith for a monthly resource exchange on Zoom for parents of babies and toddlers! We’ll share useful materials from the library and other sources, including Nyack Basics, and then open up the discussion for everyone to share helpful hints. Let’s meet other parents and build community through Zoom! Parents will receive a Zoom link prior to the program.

We will explore a different topic each session while introducing basic early reading skills in a fun way for children and families. Additional online resources will be available on our website. Pizzeria Puzzles! We need to deliver the pizzas but can't find the car keys! Help us through our digital escape room using ABC's and 123's to solve fun riddles and lead us to our pizza party! A Zoom meeting link will be sent the morning of the program.

Family Book Club
Grades K-5
Here’s a spin on our library book clubs! Every month a new book will be chosen to read as a family. Each week Ms. Danielle will email participants an activity and trivia question for the week. Send back your answers and then come to the library to receive a special prize. An email with a reading schedule will be sent to all participants the week before the program begins. The books are available on Overdrive and Hoopla. This book club will be completed at home.

Monthly LEGO Challenge!
Ages 5 and up
Are you up for a LEGO challenge? Register anytime to receive an email with the challenge of the month. Create at your own pace and share your results with us by Email at vclkids@rcls.org by the end of that month. Check our YouTube and Facebook to see everyone's creations!
Fun with Tangrams

Ages 5 and up
What is a Tangram? A Chinese geometric puzzle consisting of a square cut into seven pieces that can be arranged to make various other shapes.
Every month the Children's Room will have a new tangram project ready for pickup for children to do at home on their own anytime! Stop by the back door to the Children's Room to pick up, and send a picture of your completed tangram to vclkids@rcls.org by the end of that month for a prize and to have it posted on our social media!

Virtual Draw It Game
Tuesday, Feb. 2 at 5pm
Ages 5 and up
Join Ms. Danielle for a Virtual Drawing Game! Parents will receive a meeting code with an invitation to join through Zoom on the morning of the program. At 5PM join the meeting and Ms. Danielle will give everyone a chance to draw an animal while the other participants try and guess what it is!
I Love Music!
Monday, Feb. 15 at 4pm
Ages 6-10
Test your musical knowledge! Join Ms. Meredith to play games focusing on a range of musical instruments and the interesting sounds they make. A Zoom link will be sent out on the morning of the program.
Food Math Fun
Monday, March 15 at 4pm
Ages 7-10
Let’s have some fun with food fractions! Join Ms. Meredith for a look at fractions using our favorite foods. A Zoom link will be sent out on the morning of the program.
