VCL's Warm Up Your Neighbor Project

Help your neighbors in need keep warm and toasty! If you like to knit, you can earn community service hours. Donate your knitted or crocheted scarves or hats to the library to receive 10 hours per item. There is a limit of two knit items per student. Donations are accepted September through March.

Drop your donations off with Katrina Hohlfeld at the library.
Open to Nyack School District students.

Volunteers

The Valley Cottage Library welcomes teen volunteers entering grades 6-12 who live in the Nyack School District.  Middle school volunteers help out in the children's room, and high school volunteers help out in the other library departments. Volunteers help with tasks such as preparing crafts, assisting in programs, keeping the library clean and orderly, or computer work.

Volunteer Application

High School Volunteers: If you would like to volunteer at the library, please stop by during regular hours to pick up an application, or download and print the one below. Please read and sign the Volunteer Guidelines, then fill out the application below and return both documents to the Information Desk at the library or email to khohlfeld@rcls.org

Middle School Volunteers: The children's room is currently at capacity for volunteers!  Please see the Children's Services web page, or stop by their desk to pick up an application. You may submit your application now for when times become available.

We do our best to accommodate as many volunteers as possible, however, there are a limited number of volunteer positions available. We recommend that applicants apply as far in advance of any deadlines as possible.
