
Celebrate the right to read with the Valley Cottage Library’s Banned Books Week Read-a-Thon and the reveal of our Banned Books Trading Cards.
From 1:00-6:00pm on Tuesday, October 3, we will have members of our community reading aloud from books that have been banned or challenged. Books will be read in 5 minute increments. Click below to sign up to read in your desired age group/genre.
Each community member that participates by reading will be entered into a raffle for banned books goodies.
The program will go as follows:
1:00-2:00pm Adult Classics
2:00-3:00pm Books in the News
3:00-4:00pm Anything Goes
4:00-5:00pm Children’s Storytime – bring your kids!
5:00-6:00pm Books for Teens
6:00-8:00pm Banned Books Trading Cards Reveal followed by artist readings, reception and raffle winner announcements.
The original works from the trading card decks will be on display in our gallery. Trading card decks will be available for purchase. Light refreshments will be provided.
