The Summer I Turned Pretty is a coming of age book and a romance book set in the summer. Every summer that Belly Conklin can remember she has spent her summer at Cousins beach with her mother’s best friend Susannah. And her two sons Conrad and Jeramiah, which Susannah and her mom foretold that she would end up with one of them. Belly has been chasing Conrad for as long as she could remember, and she hopes this is the summer it will be different. Despite getting in a short relationship with Cam and looks from Jeremiah. Belly knows that her heart belongs with Conrad but throughout the book your left with the question. Will he offers his to hers? In this book Belly starts her love story and faces the many hardships that come with it. This book leaves you wondering who she will end up with. And it is a simple but complex romantic story with many breathtaking twists. And she also includes stories of her past to accompany this. This story unfolds with romance, coming of age, and finding your heart.
I absolutely loved The Summer I Turned Pretty. I love the character Belly and her personality, and how she tries to make sense of her feelings throughout the book. From the very beginning of the book you can feel how important Cousins beach is to her, and feel what Belly is going through. And relate the hardships of growing up and finding love. But the book isn’t all about romance and finding your heart or coming to age. No, it’s also big on family and friends, and how they get you through the toughest of times. And the way they are always there for you no matter what. When a shocking secret gets out the sense of family is very strong, and many other themes. I totally think this is the book for you if you love a good romance book. Well enough for now and go read the book, to find out for yourself how good it is.
